Statistical Sample Size Calculator calculates how many samples from a large population of variables are needed to satisfy a desired confidence level. This is helpful for determining how many elements from a population or equivalence partition are required for a study or a test.

The default standard deviation is 50% which mean there is a 50/50 possibility of error for any given sample.
If the members in a population being sampled are highly variable, or unknown then use the default standard deviation of .5
If the members in a population being sampled are more stable, or less variable a typical standard deviation is .167
